To the interior design world 2010 can be defined as a time of going back to basics. Warm soft colors, furniture with rounded edges, and modern naturalism were all huge themes of interior design this past year. As apartment and homeowners attempted to scale back on all costs, the world of interior design definitely felt the pinch. However, this pinch worked to push many professional and Do it Yourselfers to get more creative with less. This year tested the interior design world’s resourcefulness, creativity, and ingenuity, and yielded some interesting results.

Appropriate to the bourgeoning green movement, the organic and natural was quite popular in terms of bedroom design. For 2010 bedroom design, warm colors like beige, tan, and cocoa were utilized to warm up sleeping spaces. These warm colors worked to embrace the 2010 trend toward warm organic spaces. Not only are professor and DIYers conscious of their wall paint choices, but even went so far as to select organic paints, like the line produced by Ecos Organic Paints.  In keeping with the natural and modern theme, many designers DIYers opted for the clean sophistication of a box spring and platform beds, that is a bed without a frame or headboard.
